Family Law is the representation of individuals in all aspects of divorce,
dissolution and legal separation, both pre- and post-decree. Pre-decree issues include
division of property, parenting arrangements and child and spousal support. Post-decree
issues include compliance with and enforcement of decree terms, initiating and defending
contempt of court actions, and modification of parenting and support through both
negotiation and court intervention.
It also includes representation of parents with custody, visitation and support issues under the jurisdiction of Juvenile courts.           James M. Rueger is the firm's Family Law practitioner, and he is also part of the Collaborative Law Center, Family Law Project. The Collaborative Law Center is a limited group of respected attorneys who have at least five years of practice. Collaborative law is a process whereby the parties agree to resolve their case through full disclosure to the other party, development of alternatives, negotiation and settlement. Parties who choose this form of dispute resolution agree that they will not go to court due to the expense, unpredictability and the irreparable damage that can be done to parties' relationships in the litigation process. This new way of handling conflict in relationships that will often continue for the rest of the parties' lives is proving to be very successful in reaching resolution while maintaining good communication. This process is ideal for parties who are concerned as to how the breakdown of a marriage will affect their children. |
